The Malaysian Investor Relations Association (MIRA) will be launching the Certificate of Investor Relations (CIR) professional qualification for Investor Relations. MIRAs introduction of this certification programme is a culmination of ongoing efforts of the Securities Commission and Bursa Malaysia to develop the capital market in Malaysia.

The CIR will formalize the qualification standards of IR practitioners in line with international best practices through a highly regarded qualification in IR from IR Society UK, the second oldest IR body in the world and the premier IR body for Europe. Malaysian IR practitioners can sit for the training and exam and obtain the same qualification as available in the UK in Malaysia through MIRA. This will help listed companies identify and source for IR professionals, to help staff their IR function and enhance the quality of their IR efforts, thereby facilitating greater levels of communication and engagement with investors.

Therefore, it gives us gre at pleasure to invite the Deputy Minister Of Finance, Y Bhg Datuk Chor Chee Heung and the Chairman of Securities Commission, Y Bhg Tan Sri Zarinah Anwar to officiate the launching ceremony of the above to be held on 20th July 2009 at the Conference Room 1,Ground Floor, Bursa Malaysia.

MIRA was established in June 2007, by Bursa Malaysia (the Stock Exchange of Malaysia), and funded by the Capital Market Development Fund (CMDF), with it purpose to promote and lift the level of Investor Relations practice in Malaysian Listed Companies and investment community at large. Since MIRA establishment, we have held a monthly basis seminars on broad topics of Investor Relations, talk and hosted Investor Expo 2008 which has drawn more than 5000 participants.
